<There are folks on the list that have trailer hitches and use them, but just putting a ball on the bumper isn't going to cut it, the bumper on a squareback has only 4 small bolts holding it onto the body. More to keep it from falling off than to pull anything with. The hitch would have to attach to something forward of the engine compartment that's pretty solid, tranny nose mount> If any one is interested I have some pics of the rear bumper which was made for my bug and it has a hitch. It is patterned off of Nerf Bars, except a stronger steel. The whole unit is bolted on and not only can I stand on it close to 300 lbs. ) I was rear ended by a full size van at a stop sing and the only damage was it slightly bent the arm which the ball is bolted to..
