I think you mentioned this once before and I thought it pretty strange. The only thing that brings your RPMs down when you let off the throttle is the LACK of power output from the engine. So the engine just slows down, losing its angular momentum to friction. If yours really does slow down faster than normal, then either you have more friction, or less angular momentum (or both). Well, a lightened flywheel would do the latter, and I suspect that enough extra friction to make this difference would have destroyed your engine by now. The real question is whether your engine REALLY DOES slow down faster than normal? How would you know? What are you comparing it to? The flickering lights really don't mean that it slows down more quickly, just that it undershoots. A certain amount of this is normal, and your engine may be perfectly normal. > another thing i'm curious about is this mysterious light in my dash. i > noticed it one night driving home from work, it seemed like the center of my > dash was glowing a little. i pulled open my ashtray and what do you know? > there's a light in there that goes on when i put my lights on at night, and > goes off with them. Well, you've managed to post 2 of the most bizarre questions/observations that I have yet seen here. I really don't have any clue why there should be a light in your ash tray. If you pull the tray all the way out can you actually see the light? Perhaps some PO installed this light. I guess there are still some people out there who are that enthralled with their smoking. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
