RE: [T3] Help! Dash Installation is not easy!

Given that the dash pads are smaller due to shrinkage, etc., as referenced
below, what does the end result look like. Does the pad look normal or does
it look stretched somehow ? I've also seen hard plastic ( or perhaps
fiberglass ) dash covers.

I've got a 68 Squareback with a badly cracked dash pad and am interested in
others advice on this topic.

Thanks!

Yes, you need to remove the gauges.

It is helpful to remove the steering wheel first.

Then remove all the gauges, the old dashpad, any chrome trim and
screws. clips, etc, and the panic handle.

Install the new one panic handle first then install the three gauges,
then the rest of the stuff.

I think the replacement pads are all made from molds made from old
pads. The old pads have shrunk from age so are undersize to start
with, plus the new pads shrink as soon as they come out of the mold
and cool. Unfortunately the molds need to be oversize, but that would
be hard, so they don't do it.
