Hello everyone, It may seem like the wrong season to be asking about heat exchangers, but i have the engine out of the squareback now, and mine are pretty rusted and holy (haha, get it, holy, anyways). This brings me to my question, all of the type 3 heat exchangers i see are very expensive, anywhere from $150.00 a side to god knows what, but the beetle's are quite a bit cheaper. Can i replace my '72 type 3 heat exchangers with those from a '72 beetle? Will it take many modifications? I don't think it should since the 1600 heads are all the same, but i don't know so i am asking you guys. Has anyone here done that, my exhaust system that is on it is one of those EMPI quad tip exhaust for a type 3. Also, if i use the heat exchangers from the beetle, will it fit with my quad tip muffler, or will i need to get a '72 beetle exhaust system with those cool two chrome pipes coming out. I love those, the stock beetle exhaust, and would like to put that on my type 3 if it won't interfere with the fan housing and if it will clear the back of the squareback and look good. I guess i have a lot more questions than i thought, please tell me anything you guys know about the subject so i can make my choice, try to get back to me ASAP as i'm anxious to get the squareback running, thank you jacob schroeder '72 Squareback _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
