Yep, 2" dia., connected to the fan housing. Part of the heating system, right? There are many gaps between the joints of the exhaust system. I think that it's causing the "pooting" noise I'm hearing (and maybe the stalling). Anyway, due to time I didn't have last week, I took my 72 square to the shop. The mechanic determined that the corroded fuse block was the source of the problem and supposedly cleaned things up. However, my girl is still stalling out and its driving me crazy because I cannot find anything resembling a pattern. I'm doubtful about the mechanics thoroughness so I'll whip out my Dremmel this Thanksgiving. Please give assistance o' mighty VW warriors! What is it and could this > gap in my exhaust system be the cause of my stalling? Are you talking about a U-shaped tube, about 2" diameter, connected to the fan housing? If so, which year car?
