Reverse pop out

So I will finish my story, The man from the Bureau of Auto Repair told
me that the mechanic was willing to do warranty work on my
transmission. He said I probably would waste my time in court becasue
he could not prove anything. The mechanic no longer does business with
the check guarantee service so the mechanic has already been paid, even
though I stopped payment on the check. The check guarantee service paid
the mechanic. The mechanic will not refund the money to the check
guarantee service, the check service are the people who are sueing me.
It is already on my credit report. The bureau guy said I should pay
them and have the mechanic do the warranty work. I am afraid to let
them touch it, I would like to be able to drive it a little while
longer. I took my car to a VW specialist they stated on a work order
that they thought my transmission had not been worked on lately and that
my clutch return spring was broken. ( I thought the mechanic replaced
my clutch.) Should I let this mechanic at least fix the damage he has
done? Would that then make me have to pay the check service, sort of
admitting I owe this money? I was told that you can drive with the
reverse popping out for a long time before the tranny goes. I do not
think it was necessary to replace the tranny. The reason the gear
shifter got stuck is because they did not replace it correctly in the
first place. I was cheated by this mechanic and he is getting away with
it. He only got written up on violations regarding paperwork. He
should not be allowed to run a dishonest business. I am not that
surprised though in this capatilistic society of ours. People will do
anything for a buck, it is very sad. I beleive my car would still be
running fine had this mechanic never touched it. What does everyone
else out there think about that?

P.s. The mechanic is Manila Auto Body and Repair in San Francisco CA.
If you love your VW never go there, it can be hazordous to its
health. I do plan to take a VW repair class very soon. And I do have
the Bentley manual and I understand it in theory, its just when I get
out to the car to work on it I always end up hurting myself.

Thanks to all the replies it really helps me out a lot!!! I have
other car problems too, but I dont want to bombard everyone with my
troubles. I will post them later.
