You folks helped me find the vacumn modulator I was looking for. Thank you. Now, I gotta find someone to install it. My mechanic said he'd just pop it in. I told him I thought adjustments had to be made. He said no, not at all. They're pre-adjusted, that's why there's a colored "ring" painted on it, to identify what kinda car it was preadjusted for. Well the one in my car now has no ring on it at all and the modulator I got from Bill and Steve's has a note in it saying it could severely damage the car if it were installed and not properly adjusted. So my mechanic looked in his books and saw that it had to be adjusted with a series of guadges. He said he's never done that, doesn't want to try, and doesn't have the guadges anyway. He told me to take it to a transmission shop. Steve Galvas on this list suggested a good Los Angeles mechanic, a shop called "Auto Deinst." I called them (Joe) and he said he hasn't got the guadges either and hasn't worked on my auto tranny in fifteen years. He also told me to go to a transmission shop. He actually said AAMCO. Where do I go in the LA area to get my tranny worked on? Can I trust an AAMCO? Any suggestions would be a godsend.
