Well, I made it hame again. The neutral safety switch problem come up again in such away to make it clear that the problem was not the switch. So now I have to decide whether it is the ignition switch or the starter. Right now it looks like the starter because I get quite a nice spark when I connected the wires manually; the starter, however, gave no response--nada. Tapping it with a hammer got it to respond again, so I am guessing sticky brushes. There's only 88K on the car/starter. In fact the odo turned over 88,888 on the way home today. Anyone who had specific messages for me that required me to be home should send them again in a few days, unless I get back to you before that.
