It is possible to install the late rear subframe but the engine hangers
is another story. I have converted my 65 Notch to IRS and the biggest
problem I ran into was the rear engine mounts. If you weld them in to
the existing sides of the engine compartment you have to shorten the
bar that goes from mount to mount. This allows you to keep the existing
duct work that you are pulling cool air through to cool the engine. This
does present a problem with clearence for the elbows that connect the
fan housing to the upper heat exchangers. I still haven't solved this
problem yet. The other option would be to cut into the ductwork and
resess the mounts. This would fix the problem with having to shorten the
bar and the elbow clearance problem but would create a problem getting
cool air to the engine. I hope this helps!
