T3: '69 FI distibutors and Drive and TDC

Hi-
	When i installed my rebuilt motor - didnt run.  I moved the wires
on th cap, it ran

Previously, (and according to the markings on the distibutor) TDC #1 was
at about "5 o'clock".  To get the car to run I had to move the #1 wire to
'11 o'clock'

Do i have to reset the didributor drive shaft and move #1 back to "5
o'clock" to keep the #3 retard
correct?

If so, How?
