Re[2]: gauges


I am probably biased but I have a very hard time believing VDO gauges 
(found in Porsches, VWs and other German autos) would be inaccurate as 
well.  I agree with much of what GB says but there are some things that I 
don't agree with (like his view point on high hp engines running cool like 
a stocker).  I think that his viewpoint on temp gauges is off as well.  
Judging by the writings of the tech articles and catalog some of the 
material is dated (synthetic oil, for example) and hasn't been revised -- I 
would venture to guess this applies to gauges as well.

There is nothing wrong with genuine VDO gauges.  I have used them for
years in all my VWs and will never use anything else.
