Finding it hard to stay on the "correct" side of the road while driving? How's the body work coming? While I've only pulled out/replaced two or three windows from my cars over the years, I've always remembered my dear Mother's advice, when she said " You should never stick anything sharper than your finger in there!" Boy, I never knew how right she was til I got older. I have always used my fingers to loosen the inner seal lip, all the way around the window frame. On the outside, try to do the same with the outer seal lip, and only if *absolutely* neccesary, use a wooden implement of some sort (paint stirrer, popsicle stick, etc.) to pry away the years of crud that keep the seal stuck to the frame. Don't use any metal tools to pry the windshield away from the frame, use someone on the inside pushing the upper corner out, and someone on the outside to assist and possibly catch the window as it comes out. I've only replaced the windshield seal the one time, but I hadn't cut away the inner lip to do it, that seems like it would the way to go if you can. As for replacement glass, there are about 15 wrecking yards up off of Cairo Lane in Opa-locka that might have windshields, some of them are "u-pull's" so you might get some practice there. Marshall Painter would probably have some (954)987-8317, and First National Garage in Davie would definitely have some. Call around, and let me know what you find. David Walters '73 1600 L Notch S.
