Yes, the timing is constantly being changed by the position of the
points plate, which is controlled by the vacuum advance.  That's why you
have to disconnect the vacuum advance when setting your timing with a
stroboscopic (timing) light.  If the vacuum advance is connected, it may
give a false reading when adjusting the timing.
