OK, I was not clear. The Type 2 was offered in Germany with the 
Type 1 engine only up to 1969 or so. Then when the 411 came along 
they offered the 1.7 Type 4 engine (68 DIN Horses) in the Bus as
well. Again later came the 2.0 Type 4 engine with 70 DIN Horses.
All the time VW kept the 1.6 Type 1 in the programme for Germany (or
Europe). I must admit that I havenĄt got a clue what had been offered
in the US. The 1.6 stayed in the Bus even in the next series up to 
1990.
