Unfortunately, the guy befroe me put in a single carb (it was FI). This means that I have a plastic dome-thing sticking up in my trunk area, whish sucks because it cuts down on what I can put back there. If you go carbs, get duels, and avoid the silly looking dome-thing. Two carbs are better than one for fuel economy and performance, and two barrels (throats) per carb are better than one as well. The only difference in maintenance would be an extra air filter if your system was not sharing one. Having two allows you to put one carb at each intake. If you have just one carb you must put it in the center of the engine -- not the greatest of places because you will need to cut a hole in your engine lid or get a side draft style of carb. Trust me, keep the two carb setup. If the carbs are single barrel then consider getting two barrels if you really feel the need to spend money. I know this question is stupid, but I shall ask anyway. Is it possible to take a carb from an engine set up with dual carbeuretors and transplant it to an engine that also has duals, to make it single? The only reason I ask is because one carbeuretor is easier to maintain than two, and easier is better, and I assume cheaper. If this is possible, is it as involved as, say, nuclear fusion, or is it more in the ballpark of adjusting valves? Any insight, even to flame me for asking stupid questions, is welcome. Thanks.
