Shannon, on my 73 Fastback the springy cords go to the plug by the seat rails to keep the bells and whistles of the seat belt system happy. I like all that junk to work so I've left mine installed. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps some. Larry D. Adkins 73 Fastback 74 Super Beetle
