How much do you want for it?
Is it brand new or newish?
If just "newish", how many miles?
Is it just the engine or also starter and generator?
Fuel injected?
What year is it?
Was it from a Fastback, or Squareback?
1500 or 1600?
Send this information to greg -where you sent your original message-,
so he can also post it on the group list.
This way over 180 people will read what you'll otherwise be asked 180
times.

Thanx.

PS: Sorry for waking you up, but the news was too exiting.

Whow, that message sure generated a lot of activity!

Well here goes. I will try to answer everyones questions and tell
everything I know about he engine.

1. PRICE: I am asking $800.00 for the engine. The buyer pays
shipping. From past experience I think shipping via freight will be
around $75.00.

2. NEW vs NEWISH: As I very clearly said earlier it is NEW.
Therefore, is has 0 miles on it.

3. COMPLETENESS: The engine is complete, i.e. from the flywheel to the
exhaust system and it is all together, not in pieces. It has the
generator, and yes it has a carbuerator. I don't completely understand
this engine but the things that are missing is: next to the distributor
there is a stand off with a plunger. Well whatever goes there is
missing. I think it may be a fuel pump. I guess this is what they call
a pancake engine. If I bought an engine like this and I was planning to
install it. All I would do would be to drain the oil, set the ignition,
check the valves and run it.

4. 1500 vs 1600 / FASTBACK vs SQUAREBACK: Unfortunately, I don't know
VWs that well so I can't answer the questions concerning year, size and
FB vs SB. I personally think that it is a 1500, i.e. it has single port
heads.

5. WHO MADE ENGINE: The engine is a new/never installed factory
engine, not built or rebuilt by a VW hobbiest.

6. HOW I ACQUIRED ENGINE: My father acquired the engine from a shop
that he did some AC work for. I think they did some bartering. The
shop bought the engine new from the dealer to put in a customers car and
the deal went sour. My father got the engine because at the time I had
66 Beetle that wasn't running too well. The idea was to convert it
over. After getting the engine we dedided to keep it for a future
project. Well needless to say that never matured.

Whoever buys this engine will not be disappointed. It is exactly as I
described it. If anyone is interested I would not hesitate because
yesterday I bought the latest VW Trends magazine and found all of the
related web sites. Last night I sent out several messages letting
people about this engine. So the word is out! It must go.....soon.
