Oh, my god!!!  Whatever you do, don't unhook them!!!

Just kidding, actually they hook to the little lock on the side of the
front seats so that the front seats can't fold forward when the door is
closed.  When the door opens, the little latch moves outward in the door
jamb and pulls the seat lock inward, letting the seat be folded forward.

If they don't work, I recommend unhooking them (from under the rear of the
front seat - simple thumb screw) so the front seats are always locked - you
would not want the seat flying forward on you if you brake suddenly!  You
can also adjust them by moving the piece that is attached by a thumb screw
under the front seats.

What do mean by frozen?  Does the wire not move in its little black sheath
when you open/close the door?  I though mine didn't work until I hooked
them back up because I couldn't push the knob in the door jamb with my
finger - obviously the door puts a lot more pressure on the switch.
