The jeweler's screwdriver is a good idea, I made up something special. >These are not cheap, but where else are you going to get them? The extractor >tool may not be necessary for some, I've found that a proper sized jeweler's >screwdriver will work, too. You will also need a proper crimp tool, like a >pair of pliers. Most of the ones I've seen in car parts places are for >crimping large wires like spark-plug wires, you'll need ones that go >considerably smaller. Try an electronics supply place. Don't use pliers, >you'll just screw up your expensive contacts. I like to solder(tin) the wire >before crimping, then apply the iron afterwards, just paranoid about permanent >connections. You'll get better results if you crimp first and solder later; that gives a more intimate mating between wire and connector. Practice. Neatness and not melting the wire's insulation counts >While your at it, it's a great time to get some new boots on, mine seem to last >about five years before splitting. The boots seem to hold the plugs in and >provide a measure of strain relief, as far as I know, they're still available >from WCM. Now for some teflon-coated wire and cable wrap.... The original wire is not teflon-insulated, but Bosch put out a repair kit that has has contacts pre-attached to short bits of white wire that DOES appear to be Teflon. Boots are a good idea, but the 2 pin ones that WCM has are later style Bosch. The others that they have are all like original, but some of them are not correctly described in their catalog. And then they just don't have them all.
