My three cents on the average person and how they sell air cooled VW: Overpriced. The only way this T3 could be worth the $2600 price range if it was in *very good* condition (tranny is new or major rebuild in last 5 years, brake system rebuilt last 2-3 years, NO RUST, good electrical system, ...). A new engine does help a sale but there is no way one should expect to recoup building costs! If someone is asking a good amount for a car (more than you expect) but you are considering buying it, have an appraiser give an estimate on the vehicle (I had my car appraised for insurance purposes and the cost was only $60). Of course, a trusted mechanic should also give the high priced vehicle the proper once over to make sure you're getting your moneys worth. Just a peeve I had to get off my chest, Toby Erkson air_cooled_nut@pobox.com '72 VW Squareback 1.6L modified to 2.0L '75 Porsche 914 stock 1.8L ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Fwd: 73 vw squareback for sale Author: type-3-errors@umich.edu at SMTPGATE Date: 1/21/97 6:45 PM Here you go folks, you now know as much as I do.
