Drive plate for type 3 automatic transmission

Forgive me if this is obvious, but the AT needs a non-standard gland nut 
that doesn't have the MT input shaft needle bearing; the torque convertor 
has a pilot that sticks in that space instead.  If this bearing is there, it 
MIGHT be possible to bolt the drive plate up to the torque converter, but it 
would be under a lot of unusual stress.
