I read once that the Brasilia started life as a design study for a possible Beetle replacement. By the time it made it to production the car was more Type 3 than Type 1, but isn't really either. Do VW consider it a Type 3? Any Brasilia owners on the list could answer this with the first few digits of their car's serial number... The Type 4 relationship is because the styling chief at VW do Brasil had a hand in many cars. Compare the snout of an SP2 with a 412, for example.
