Re: wierd VW stories: 1.6-l. Bus non-type 3 pancake engine (was: Type III Vanagon)


I recall seeing one of those cases and the only problem I could see 
(main problem that stood out!) was that to convert to upright, the oil 
cooler location on these weirdo motors is more towards the pulley by 
about 100mm or about that. Yes they look like an excellent basis for 
something special with hydraulic lifters, massive oil pickup and 
standard with a real filter.!
