Re: Dizzy problems

Jonathan=> I was going to pull the diz because there is some oil coming
=> up from the base (slight)...which suggests its time for a new O-ring.

Well, that stumps me -- I can't imagine what might be keeping that diz
stuck in place. Tried a crowbar yet? ;)

=> I also thought that the problems I'm having with misfiring in 3rd and
=> 4th could be related to the diz. I've replaced everything else :)

Are you replacing points and condensor to address this problem, or as
routine maintenance? Are you sure your coil is good? When was the last
rebuild on the carb? Do you have all your air-control stuff properly in
place and functioning?

If your misfiring is related to speed rather than RPM, I'd say the
advance mechanism is off the hook. You can test that standing still. I'd
start looking for some way that speed might be affecting the electrical
or fuel system. Maybe an old rubber line on the suction side of the fuel
pump that's collapsing under continuous load? Intake airflow problem?
Stereo drawing too many amps when you crank it up?
