Changed virtually every facet of my ignition system last night. Caps, coil, condensor, points, rotoe, plugs, and wires. Nothing happened for 5 cranks or so, then a backfire. I still have iffy hearing in my left ear. It was then i start from scratch. again. Then I noticed something....my friend had rewired the spark plugs while I did something else, and he being bug centric might have missed something i'm not to sure about anyway. I was checking the timing, and as we all know at TDC there are 2 places the rotor could be. Which one is right? I couldn't find my chiltons last night and Cap'n Muir is cryptic (line it up with the notch. What notch???). Standing with the hatch open, goats too your back, front of the car to your, well...front, at TDC, is the rotor at: 10:30 oclock or 4:30 o'clock the wrong one, I figure, will result in no starting and occasional load backfires. Someone please tell me I'm right!! its vcurrently set with the 4:30 option, making #1 cylinder 4 oclock on the disti.... -rj -71 lawn ornament
