If you mean p.54, it looks like the guy stuck a Bus shifter extension on
the stock Bug shifter and then put an Empi shift knob onto the end of the
Bus shifter extension.  It's also possible that it is a specific Bug
shifter extension, same as a Bus one but maybe with a different bend more
suitable for Bugs.

You should be able to do the same on your Notch, if you want.  I'm not sure
the shifter extensions are still being made, but you can contact BFY
Obsolete Parts or pretty much any parts place and ask them where to get
one.  There might even be a Type 3 one. :)  You might want to figure out
the thread size of your T3 shifter first, in case they ask.
