On my 66 fastback the 6v starter had a booster[aftermarket?] It gives the
starter a renewed life from what I understand.  Also 8v batteries are
available and may help with your dim lights, slow wipers, and hard starting.
To switch to 12v you need a different fan housing shroud.  I have one on my
66 right now and the 6v starter had to be shimmed to keep it in place. I
found a "t"prefix engine which is the original prefix for my 66 I will have
the right housing but it won't be until I pull the "u"prefix the beginning of
next year. Hope this helps.  Get in touch with me in feb 98 if you still need
