On my 66 fastback the 6v starter had a booster[aftermarket?] It gives the starter a renewed life from what I understand. Also 8v batteries are available and may help with your dim lights, slow wipers, and hard starting. To switch to 12v you need a different fan housing shroud. I have one on my 66 right now and the 6v starter had to be shimmed to keep it in place. I found a "t"prefix engine which is the original prefix for my 66 I will have the right housing but it won't be until I pull the "u"prefix the beginning of next year. Hope this helps. Get in touch with me in feb 98 if you still need the shroud. JARHEAD
