Ginger and Peter: By my estimate, it seems that each notch is approximately 1.5 to 2". That's why it took so long the first time. I would lower it, put it ack together, and then find out it wasn't enough. So I went back and went ABOUT THREE NOTCHES! (Big mistake!)
