Alan, Thanks for the quick response....I've have the fluid drained and filter changed. Would a stall speed test give a better idea if the converter needs to be replaced?? ***** Larry, It couldn't hurt, but that's not the problem. It's acting like the "clutch" is too loose. In the automatic, the torque converter IS the clutch. Basically, when the passageways get clogged in the converter, it cannot hold the preassure from the flywheel to the tranny drive shaft. So the engine goes wheeEEEEEEeeeeee. And when you let off the gas and bring up the rpm's slowly, the converter can handle it better. But while your at it check the vacuum hoses for leaks and the Stall switch for cleanliness. Big Al awpresley@earthlink.net
