Well all, Havent written much of late, so here goes. You may recall I found a 52,000 mile black '56 bug a while back from the original old lady driver? Well, it has been sitting in a friends garage for a couple of months now and I haven't even driven it so on sunday I finally got off my bum and went to go and get it. He lives about an hour and a half away so it is a bit of a trek. Anyways, I got there and had to bolt the fenders back on as Steve had been polishing under the guards and couldn't be bothered putting them back on so already I was busy. After that and connecting lights and bumpers etc I found he had dropped the gearbox oil and engine oil, so under the car I get and replace the sump gasket/screen and fill the gearbox with oil. Next the engine and finally it looks like I can think about driving it. The brakes are spot on, the battery is in so with a 12V battery in parallel to spin the old girl over, away it goes. Hardly any smoke too. No it wasn't registered so don't tell anyone! I then proceeded to drive home and I must say how interesting it is to drive through the hills with crossplies and only 36hp. What a blast! I safely made it home with no problems and without running into any police and that is where the car is at for now. With a bit of luck this weekend I will remove the fenders etc again and maybe get them repainted as the old girl that had the car dinged them up a bit more than I would have liked. Just thought I would share this with you so that you don't think I have dissapeared with my VW's. Once I have finished the detail on this beauty I think I will find it a new home, somebody that would do the car justice. I have got too much to do now with a Notch, T2 panel and a T3 panel, not to mention another '55 oval body. I'm sure someone out here would die to have a 52k mile black '56. Drive your VW's. regards, Aaron, Adelaide South Australia. -- \|/ @ @ +-----------------o00-(_)-00o---------------------------+ | Aaron Britcher MOBILE: 0418 807 160 | | <abritcher@ezinet.com.au> HOME: +61 (08) 8265 3363 | | | | "If you can't say anything \/ | | sensible, talk to me!" \/\/ | +-------------------------------------------------------+
